Indian Business-Cycles Foresight Institute (IBFI)
A Collaborative Platform for India’s Economic Foresight
The Indian Business-Cycles Foresight Institute (IBFI) is an open, independent platform dedicated to strengthening India’s capability in business-cycle research, macro-environment measurement, and long-term demand foresight.
IBFI brings together ideas, insights, and analytical frameworks from industry professionals, economists, researchers, data scientists, strategists, and corporate leaders who believe that India needs stronger, forward-looking economic intelligence.
Founded by Pinaki Mukherjee, IBFI is built with the mindset of collaboration, shared learning, and collective foresight—not ownership.
What IBFI Stands For
A shared space for deep economic thinking
IBFI is designed as a neutral, non-commercial platform where anyone working on Indian macroeconomics, cycles, demand, forecasting, or strategic intelligence can contribute knowledge, data, methods, or perspective.
An ecosystem, not an institution
The objective is not to create a rigid organisation, but a vibrant community that enriches India’s understanding of economic cycles and structural transitions.
A bridge between research and real-world decision-making
IBFI welcomes contributions that strengthen corporate foresight, macro analysis, industry diagnostics, and sectoral demand assessments.
Our Purpose
To build a community-driven platform that:
- Tracks India’s business cycles with rigour
- Builds better tools to read the macro-business environment
- Improves long-horizon demand forecasting capabilities
- Creates open knowledge accessible to businesses, policymakers, academia, and researchers
- Encourages cross-industry collaboration in economic intelligence
- Develops deep, forward-looking insights that help India anticipate shifts—not just react to them
If you have expertise, data, methods, research, sectoral insights, or forecasting capabilities, IBFI welcomes your contribution.
Vision
To nurture a collaborative ecosystem that becomes India’s most trusted source for business-cycle understanding, macro-environment sensing, and multi-sector foresight—built collectively by professionals who care about India’s economic future.
Philosophy
Open. Collaborative. Forward-Looking.
IBFI believes that India’s economic foresight cannot be built by one person or one organisation. It needs:
- Shared intelligence

- Academic–industry partnerships
Every contribution strengthens the quality of insight and broadens the platform’s capability.

A Note from the Founder
“IBFI is not my institute—
it is a platform for all who believe India needs deeper economic foresight.
The doors are open for knowledge-sharing, research collaboration, debate, and fresh thinking.
Everyone is welcome.”— Pinaki Mukherjee
