1. Planning and achievement
Plan today night for tomorrow. Plan at weekend for next week. Plan in the month end for next month.
Target setting and focus on one thing at a time are very important for increasing efficiency. Unless you complete the existing task, you should never move to another task. So set your target to complete the tasks.
Completed tasks are your achievements. Always maintain a stock of your achievements. On one hand it will keep you update with your historical tasks and on the other hand it will motivate you to move forward.
2. Remove distractions
There are many people who are active on multiple accounts in social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Google plus, Google Chat and Whatsapp. These social media accounts suck time. Some other addictions like checking e-mail on smartphones or reading random facts on Wikipedia etc. are big negatives for efficient working. Remove these distractions when you are at work.
3. Cleanness is Godliness
Clean your desk and computer desktop. Maintain a good directory structure in your computer. The must be one directory as “PERSONAL”. Personal things should not be mix with professional stuffs.
4. Keep office drama aside
Office is a workplace. You just have to be able to work with all the coworkers. Be polite and tactful in the workplace, even with people you hate. Office dramas are most harmful to efficiency.
5. Obey some timing rules
Reach office early. A quite, empty office will give a good start to your day.
Thought intensive tasks like research, analysis, report writing, quantitative modeling etc. should be done in AM. Labour intensive works like meeting, conference call, people networking, topic discussion etc. should be scheduled for PM.
6. Take proper rest
You must get 7-8 hours of sleep at night. Proper rest keeps you active when you are at work. Follow Benjamin Franklin “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.”
7. Exercise
Both physical and mental exercises are required to keep you active throughout the day. You should daily devote 20-25 minutes for exercise. To energize your body and mind daily in 20 minutes, you may follow the exercises in the following link
